An Adaptive Richardson-Lucy Algorithm for Medical Image Restoration

Image restoration is the process of estimating original image content from a degraded picture. In this paper, Richardson-Lucy iterative algorithm was developed to improve quality medical images. It has been assumed that images are exposed two types degradation. The first type blur function in Gaussian form with different widths, i.e. σ = 1 , 2, and 3. second degradation be independent white noise signal-to-noise ratio values: SNR 10, 50 100. results obtained adaptive filter compared, quantitatively, conventional filters: inverse, Wiener, constraint least square, by applying measures, such as: power signal (PSNR), structural similarity index (SSID), root mean square error (RMSE). comparison showed recovery achieves better results.
